What is SQ-LNS?
Small-quantity lipid-based nutrient supplements (SQ-LNS) are food based supplements designed for the prevention of malnutrition in children 6-24 months of age. In settings where vulnerable populations are likely to have nutrient gaps in their typical diets and multiple micronutrient deficiencies, these supplements can optimize health and growth in children.
SQ-LNS for infants and young children generally contain the daily recommended intake of necessary micronutrients and can be mixed with foods prepared in the home, or consumed as is, allowing for flexibility in feeding practices.
